A detrimental Stage 4 metastatic cancer diagnosis was received by David Raigoza, owner of Chef David’s Kitchen and Catering, on April 13th, 2023. He was given prognosis of 6 months to 2 years of life. He was suffering from a chronic cough that prompted him to seek medical treatment. In spite of the fact that his lung scan and laboratory tests came back normal, further testing confirmed the diagnosis.

Among the most aggressive cancers, this one begins in the gall bladder or common bile duct. The cancer has now metastasized to his liver, severely affecting many of his organ functions.

His treatment since then has included aggressive inpatient treatment, biopsy, implantation of an infusion port and medication administration.

The condition of David's health is further complicated by a history of aplastic anemia, a rare disorder in which the body ceases to make enough new blood cells.

Although he was also impacted by the pandemic shortly after opening the restaurant in 2020, he managed to continue to operate the business and fulfill many catering events.

He continues to receive support from his loyal guests. Many people say it’s “the best food in town” and are disappointed to see when it’s closed.

In spite of his illness, Chef David continues to plan catering events even while confined to his hospital bed, because that's what drives him.

His devotion to the creation of food is driven by an unmeasurable passion and strong Faith.

In addition to having to receive aggressive chemotherapy treatments every week, David also faces financial hardship due to the cost of medications, catering support staff, medical equipment, employee costs, restaurant supplies, rising cost of food, transportation to medical appointments, legal fees, business expenses and family support.

His commitment to the community has not diminished. As part of his charitable and community service, he has donated gift cards, performed charity catering events, donated his time, taught cooking classes, given away food to those in need, fed lonely families on Thanksgiving, provided for special needs children, and held charity events for schools. He has served as a surrogate family support for the elderly and has helped friends and family members in need.

Please join us in keeping his business thriving. He is undoubtedly fighting a courageous battle against this cancer. There is a sense of heroism amongst all who is involved in this fight against cancer.

we thank you for your contribution and continued support. Among all things we thank you for the kind words of encouragement, prayers and continued loyalty.
