Chef Carl Steven Redding

Hello Family! Our beloved native son of Harlem New York, transitioned Tuesday 12/27/2022. Chef Carl was the founder/owner and head chef of Amy Ruth restaurant in Harlem USA on 116th. He loved being known as 'The Celebrity Chef'. He cooked for presidents, political leaders, civil rights activists, musical artists, actors, DJs, comedians, talk show hosts, reporters, authors, and church and spiritual leaders. He loved cooking for his community, friends, and family. His famous dish was Chicken and Waffles. He loved seeing people enjoy themselves while eating his delicious dishes. He loved fishing, canning veggies, exploring new cuisines, and chatting with Ms. Inez (his mama) every day. He had an illustrious background and connections. He helped countless people in the community with jobs and opportunities.

Due to unforeseen deteriorating health conditions, Chef Carl fell on hard times, and had extreme financial difficulty. He had a hard time making ends meet on a day to day basis. He never stopped advocating for himself as well as others. His last days were very painful because he complained that he had no heat and hot water, which was very painful to hear. Especially, from someone that gave so many so much.

We are asking, as a family, that we all come together and give our son, brother, friend and favorite cook, a nice homegoing service.
