Chef Ace and his Cash Man
Early on the morning of 10/2/20, Chef Ace called and emotionally told us there had been a hit and run and his beloved sidekick, "Cash", had been critically injured. Chef Ace had been taking Cash for his regular morning walk, on a leash, when an older model white Cadillac (no license plate) came speeding the wrong way down an alley off Wallace St., ran over Cash, and sped off.
Thankfully, after two surgeries and much rehabilitation to come, Cash has survived, despite a crushed pelvis and both back legs broken. The current total of Cash's vet bills is $4,677. It's estimated he'll need $1,000-$2,000 more in continued treatment as he convalesces.
Ever since the shutdown on March 16, our Chef Ace has poured his heart and soul into many long hours in the Pier 48 kitchen, in order to produce an amazing menu on a "Covid-Budget". Rarely taking a day off, he has worked single-handedly many times to keep going, 7 days a week. We know many of you have enjoyed Chef Ace's dishes during these unprecedented times, so we wanted to make you aware of this unfortunate occurrence in his Best Buddy's life. Your thoughts and prayers mean the most!
