Cheeto's Healing: Join Our Effort to save Cheeto the cat

Hi, we are Amanda, Allison, and Thomas Montalbano. The owners of Cheeto the cat. He is around 6-8 years old. Cheeto came into our lives about 2 and a half years ago when he showed up on our doorstep one day. We realized he was not a stray but originally someone else’s cat. Overtime, it was best decided among all of us that Cheeto would be best saying at our house. However, he was an an indoor/outdoor cat. The old owners trained him to be that way, letting him outside. He refused to use the bathroom in a litter box so because he had that feline instinct to go outside the way he was raised, we kept letting him outside. On Monday Febuary 10th around the 8:30 am hour, we let Cheeto out as usual so he can do his business and come back. He ended up coming back to our house all beat up. During an ER visit for 4 days, we found out that his whole face is swollen, his 3rd eye lid being all swollen and bloody as the blood vessels popped. His jaw has a fracture and he also has a bruised lung. We think he either got hit by a car, attacked by a hawk, or he slammed his face hard into something outside. He is on soft baby food right now, just barley eating. We think he is completely blind from both eyes now since the eye that isn’t bloody doesn’t actually react to light. He saw an ophthalmologist. He might be blind permanently. The jaw can close when sedated so the jaw and the bruised lung should be able to heal on its own. As for the eye, we are unsure what this means and told us to wait a week to follow up. We are currently waiting for swelling to go down so he can get a CAT scans, and be looked at further. He is currently on a lot of medication just to not feel any pain. He’s hooked up to IV so he doesn’t get dehydrated. However, these treatments and medications and doctors are not cheap at all. These vets are extremely expensive. To keep affording Cheetos treatments, I think this could definitely help him and benefit so he can be safe and healthier in the future. We will never let him out ever again, nor I think he would ever want to, giving his condition and trauma. I understand that not everyone is financially stable but every little bit helps. You’d be helping a cat in need. Cheeto was always a people person, he usually loves meeting new people and rubbing against them. He would really appreciate if you can give whatever you can. Anything helps even if it’s not a crazy amount we would all really appreciate anything you can give. Please share as well so other people can see this and know this poor baby’s story. Thank you for reading all this. I appreciate your time.
