Cheering for Conrad

As many of you know, Conrad has been diagnosed with Mesothelioma, an aggressive and rare form of cancer that occurs in the thin layer of tissue that lines the lungs or the abdomen. For the past two months, Conrad has undergone numerous medical tests, scans, and appointments with specialists. It was discovered that his cancer is confined to one lung and there has been no metastasis, for which they are extremely grateful. Conrad was recently referred to a specialist in Toronto where he will undergo extensive surgery to remove his left lung. On Friday, February 24th, Erica and Conrad will be flying to Toronto. There are a series of tests he will undergo, as well as radiation treatment prior to surgery. His surgery is scheduled for March 30th and will require him to stay in the hospital for approximately two weeks, followed by an 8-10 month recovery.

In the months to come, Conrad and Erica will be faced with significant costs related to medical procedures, travel and accommodation expenses in Toronto, a lengthy recovery, and the challenges of receiving health care out of province. In addition, Conrad has been unable to work for the past couple of months, and will continue to be off work during his recovery.

As you can imagine, this unexpected journey has been an emotional rollercoaster for their family, especially for Conrad and Erica. Through it all, they have been leaning into their faith, family, and dear friends for strength and encouragement. For those of you who know the Wilgenbusch family well, you know that they are SO loved! Despite the circumstances, Conrad has maintained his witty sense of humour, and Erica has been so strong and is caring so well for their family. I know there are many of you that want to help in a tangible way, so let’s help by relieving some financial burden, so that they can focus on Conrad’s health and beating this thing!
