CHEERing Holiday Fundraiser
Donation protected
In November 2019, a baby died in a refugee camp in Greece from dehydration. At CHEERing, we see ‘near misses’ every day on the front lines of the Greek refugee crisis, which is why our work is so important. This fall, CHEERing provided direct breastfeeding and nutrition help to 543 mother/baby pairs and 78 pregnant women, and trained staff/volunteers at 10 agencies in Athens, Thebes, Elefsina, Skaramagas, and the island of Samos. We do emergency nutrition assessments, medical referrals, and a run weekly growth and nutrition clinic in 2 camps and a shelter, all focusing on breastfeeding promotion and safe infant feeding in emergencies. Our families come from more than 30 nations, and our team speaks Arabic, English, Farsi, French, Greek, and Kurmanji.
All our work is supported by donations. Your generosity this holiday season will help us save lives and offer better health to more babies. Every bit helps: $10 pays a translator for an hour; $25 funds a full clinic session; $50 will support us for a week.
