Cheddar Needs Your Help Now

Cheddar is a community cat who lived on the property of the Royal Ontario Museum and University of Toronto, and took shelter beneath the old planetarium building for over ten years. He’s well known, well loved, and definitely well fed.

As the impending demolition of the planetarium building nears, New Cat City was contacted to see if we may help contain him for rescue and indoor retirement. One of his former feeders had made arrangements to send him to a sanctuary outside of the city once we had him contained and vetted.

Upon witnessing Cheddar’s trust and bond with just one of his many feeders, who Cheddar allows touching even when he’s not eating, it’s entirely possible that with some time to decompress he may do well in a home with one of his former feeders or someone with patience and experience with semi-feral cats who may provide him with an indoor environment where he may thrive.

He has seen the vet once so far and he’s been diagnosed with dermatopathy on his back which was treated with clip/clean and antibiotics, but we need to follow up on cause. They also found tartar and a resorptive lesion (which is painful) in his mouth so he will need to undergo a dental if his bloodwork comes back clear.

We understand there are a lot of folks out there who have formed a connection with this soul. We are asking for your help in getting him the veterinary care he requires as well as placing him in the most perfect forever home.
