Check Engine - A film to support Men's Mental Health
Donation protected
Let's face it, society still thinks that "men don't cry", that you should remain strong because you are a man, that men cannot show their emotions because otherwise it shows weakness.
Men's Mental Health is still a topic that many of us are still afraid to talk about for many reasons: society, judgment, stigmas, taboo, etc. Same as anyone else, Men should not be made to feel ashamed or weak for struggling with mental illness, simply because society has stigmatized them to be strong and stoic.
"Check Engine" is a short film written by Kevin Moriarity and Jesus Ortiz that highlights specific challenges and stigmas men face in mental illness. The story follows the main character, Joey, after the tragic and unexpected loss of his best friend, Ben, in a motorcycle accident.
Joey is struggling with conflicting emotions. He is depressed, angry, guilty, and feeling responsible for the loss of his friend. Despite these emotions, he feels he must remain strong, not appearing vulnerable to his friends and family. The weight of his grieving has become too much for him to bear on his own, he now only sees one option to end his suffering.
This is an amazing story that deserves to be heard and watched. The funds donated will be used to pay Union (ACTRA) actors, crew, locations and extra expenses that comes into Film. We hope that your help and support can deliver a strong message to our society.
