Our poor little real life teddy bear, Cheburashka, has fallen ill! He has stones in his bladder, 6 of them to be exact. One really big one and 2 small ones in his bladder, one in the passage way heading towards the urethra and 2 in his urethra. We noticed he was acting weird yesterday (12/7) and rushed him to the emergency vet hospital. His bladder was over filled and he couldn't pee at all. The doctor said it was lucky we brought him in when we did because it could have been a lot worse. They tried to push the stones in his urethra back but were unsuccessful so they put a catheter directly into his bladder through his belly. He is currently at the vet hospital waiting for a full surgical team on Monday. Thankfully, with the belly catheter his condition is not life threatening. On Monday (12/9) they will operate to remove the stones from his bladder and, with full access to his bladder, will work on flushing out the stones in his urethra from both directions. If this does not work they will have to cut into his urethra and give him a new peepee hole through his scrotum. Good knews is that the only real change is that he will pee like a girl. Bad news is that in this scenario they will take his balls off.
We visited him this morning (12/8) and he is stable and comfortable, he even ate the snacks we brought him. Everyone at the hospital is in love with him. If you ever met him you understand why. He is the most precious, sweetest soul ever. He is everything that is right with this universe.
As you can imagine the emergency vet bill will not be cheap. We are expecting no less than $4k after all is said and done. But a small price to pay to make sure our fur baby is healthy and back at home with us as soon as possible. It's a crappy time of year to ask anyone for monetary help, but any donation would help! Please and thank you! Happy holidays, keep your loved ones close, especially those fur babies!
