On Dec. 1st Zach and his wife Amanda went to the Emergency Room seeking answers after months of Zach dealing with chronic back pain - that they thought was related to a herniated disc. Zach's back pain had gotten to a point where he was unable to work for weeks on end, and he and Amanda started to worry it could be more than back pain. After a few hours in the ER, a chest X-ray revealed that Zach had multiple lesions on his lungs, one of which was larger than 2 inches in size, along with a large blood clot in an artery in his stomach. They were admitted to the hospital that night where a CT Scan and blood work showed a possibility that Zach's Testicular Cancer from 2015 had spread upward into his chest and and into a lymph node in his neck. (Zach had a testicle removed 3 years ago due to Teratoma Cancer - doctors believed the surgery was all that was needed and he was cleared at all of his check ups.) Zach was then moved to a different hospital where he has been diagnosed with a Germ Cell Cancer called Embrynal Carcinoma. The doctors removed part of a golf ball sized tumor from the node in his neck and received a stint in his kidney that has given him immediate back pain relief. He started Chemotherapy immediately and will continue treatment until the tumors shrink. The doctors believe Zach's cancer is treatable with 6-8 rounds of chemo.
You may or may not know the Cheatham's, but one thing you can take our word on is the fact that they are an absolutely amazing, fierce, and kind couple. Zach and Amanda have served countless ministries since they were teenagers and in their almost 7 years of marriage they have spent the majority of it doing full time worship ministry together. Zach has written songs that are sung across the nation including "Won My Heart" from Gateway Worship. We know Zach and Amanda have more songs to write and sing together and want to help lift the financial burden off of them in any way possible! The Cheatham's have faced cancer and the unknown once before, but we are asking you to come alongside them and support them in this difficult journey. Zach won't be able to work for some time, so this financial goal will help cover medical expenses and anything else they might need. Please consider giving the gift of peace and generosity to Zach and Amanda during this heartbreaking time.
