February is Heart Month and within it February 7-14 is Congenital Heart Defect Awareness Week. Did you know one in every 100 babies is born with  a CHD? Of those, half will require life saving surgery as babies  

As many of you know, our son Austin was one of them. He was born with a rare undetected congenital heart defect called Total Anomalous Pulmonary Venous Return (TAPVR). In this particular defect, the pulmonary veins that bring oxygen rich blood back from the lungs to the heart are wired incorrectly. He underwent life saving emergency open heart surgery at 9 days old.  

The Children’s Heart Network is a non-profit organization here in BC that provides resources, education and support to families who have been affected by Congenital Heart Defects/Disease. From meet ups, to information sessions, to various special activities, the Children’s Heart Network helps families living with heart warriors feel like they are not alone on their journeys. We personally have been on the receiving end of the CHN's generosity when they paid for the cost of shipping a Heart Box to us to celebrate Austin’s first Heartiversary.

This year for Heart Month, we are raising money to benefit the Children's Heart Network, and any donation, no matter the amount, will help make an impact. Our family thanks you so much in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to us.
