Hello. I am Chayla. I lost my job in July 2025 due to them closing their doors. I worked there for 4 years, and they only gave us a 2-week notice of closure and then only had me working 1 day in the final week, after all the years of hard work I gave them. I was on unemployment for 5 months and looking for jobs every day. I've had 20 interviews with no callbacks and a bunch of “we are sorry” emails.

I've applied to rental assistance every month and have never been chosen. All the unemployment money went to rent, but since I don’t receive that anymore, I'm stuck. I do everything I can to even make $30-50 a day, but it’s not enough.

The place I live is infested with roaches, and my neighbors have been robbed, and I have been stalked many times outside of my apartment. My dog has been attacked by a neighbor's dog. I just want to break my lease so I can move in with my boyfriend and feel safe, but I have to pay what I owe before I can begin to break my lease. Please help me. I am terrified of my neighborhood, and I just can’t seem to get in front of these rent payments.
