Chaussie Cat and Mona : A Journey to Safety, and Beyond.
Donation protected
Welcome, thank you for being here. I am Mona, and this sweet face belongs to Chaussie Cat (pronounced "show-see" - she's named after the French word for socks ❤️). We are seeking your help for an urgent relocation from Kansas City, Missouri to the Twin Cities, where I can live safely as the transgender woman I am.
The political climate in Missouri has become increasingly hostile toward trans individuals, particularly with recent policy changes affecting housing protections and healthcare access. As someone who, in order to survive, relies on SSDI benefits, healthcare assistance, and EBT, I need to migrate quickly, and ensure I can transition safely between states despite potential gaps in benefits and critical support services.
Il. Your support of $2,500 will help cover:
- Security deposit for safe housing
- First two months' rent
- Living expenses to ensure safety and wellbeing, for Chaussie and I, during the benefits transfer period
While my current HUD housing is supposedly stable, one of the executive orders, and most recent political developments, on top of the already not good situation we had in Missouri make me very concerned about the future security of housing protections for trans individuals. Also, I am deeply concerned with access to healthcare, and any other human rights I have, going the way of the dodo. The Twin Cities offers stronger legal protections and a more supportive community where I could not only survive, but, also, have the chance to truly thrive, to create, and contribute.
Every dollar brings us closer to safety. Whether you can donate or simply share our story, Chaussie and I are forever grateful for your support in helping us build a more secure, and beautiful future.
Thank you for being part of our journey,
Mona and Chaussie
