Help Chauncey Trot Again!
Meet Chauncey the Champ, an incredibly sweet 2-year-old Berkshire/Hampshire pig. Once a shining star in the show ring, Chauncey captivated audiences with his charm and gentle spirit. Sadly, his world turned upside down when his beloved owner passed away. Luckily, Second Hand Sanctuary, a self-funded organization, welcomed Chauncey with open arms.
A New Challenge:
Just when Chauncey seemed to be settling into his new sanctuary life, he started experiencing difficulty standing. Concerned about his well-being, we rushed him to the University of Georgia's veterinary school for a complete assessment.
Diagnosis and Hope:
The vet diagnosed Chauncey with neurocysticercosis, a serious condition caused by a tapeworm infection. Thankfully, the diagnosis wasn't a death sentence. Chauncey bravely underwent treatment with Albendazole to target the tapeworms, along with steroids to manage any swelling caused by the dying parasites.
Progress and a Hurdle:
The good news is, Chauncey's treatment is showing positive results! He's on the road to recovery, but there's one final hurdle. To bring Chauncey home and continue his care at the sanctuary, we need to raise an additional $4,000 to cover his veterinary bill.
How You Can Help Chauncey Get Home:
Every dollar you donate brings Chauncey closer to the loving care he deserves.
Spread the Word, Share the Love:
Help us get Chauncey home faster by sharing his story on social media! Use the hashtags #ChaunceyTheChamp and #HomewardBound.
Together, we can create a happy ending for this incredible pig. Thank you for your compassion and generosity!
