Callie Marie Chastain, age 38, of Monterey, California passed away peacefully on June 17, 2019 with her mother by her side. She was beloved by her parents, brothers and sisters, partner and young son.
Callie was born on January 7, 1981 in Leon, Iowa to Robert and Kathleen Chastain. She graduated from Central Decatur School in 1999, where she was active in clubs, sports and activities.
During college at the University of Iowa, she studied abroad in Spain. She loved traveling and visited England, China, Germany, France and Belgium. Her travels eventually took her to Palm Springs, California for a new adventure close to her mom. She met her partner, Dave Heffington, in Palm Springs and eventually moved with Dave to Monterey. They enjoyed camping trips, hiking, snowboarding and softball. Callie received her Masters Degree at the California State University, Monterey Bay, where she also worked her way up to the position of senior analyst for the College of Business.
Callie easily made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed softball league, hiking, golfing and scuba diving. Callie was always a straight shooter who wasn’t afraid to say what was on her mind.
In 2016 she was blessed with the birth of her son, Jackson, who was the light of her life. She adored her family and made sure to spend time in Iowa and Palm Springs. She loved watching her son learn to swim in Meemaw’s pool with the “bratties”.
She was beloved by many and her presence will be sadly missed.
You can honor her memory through your financial support which will be saved in an account for healthcare and education costs for her son, Jackson, age 3. You can also donate to the Colon Cancer Association in her honor.
You can also send a letter about Callie that will be saved for Jackson to read as he gets older. Please email your stories and memories to Callie's mom Kathy at [e-mail geredigeerd].
