If you know Christine, you know that she is a fighter. At the age of 3, she was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

After undergoing surgery, radiation and chemotherapy, she beat cancer, grew up, earned a master's in Social Work at the University of Kansas and became a mom to her almost 18 year old son David who will be graduating in May.

But the road has not been easy and it just got a little harder.
Christine was diagnosed with intractable epilepsy 2 years ago and multiple medications were ineffective at treating it.
In May of 2015, Christine was referred to a neurologist epileptologist and has since undergone multiple tests and treatments to get to the source of the problem. It was discovered in July that Christine has partial complex seizures in the right temporal lobe of her brain and preliminary testing began to see if Christine would be an eligible candidate for surgery.
Fast forward to October of 2015 - Christine had an MRI done as part of the testing process and the neurologist found a meningioma (brain tumor). The tumor is likely a result of the radiation she underwent at age 3.
Her neurologist presented her case and test results to a meeting of neurologists and neurosurgeons to determine if she is a candidate for surgery to remove the brain tissue that is the origin of her seizures.
In January, Christine found out that she is being moved to Phase III testing in preparation for the surgery. On February 29th, Christine will be admitted to KU Medical Center for an intracranial video-monitored EEG (in a regular EEG, the electrodes are placed on the scalp - in an intracranial EEG, the electrodes will be placed directly on her brain to determine with precision the exact area of tissue that is the origin of her seizures). This hospital stay is expected to last 1 to 2 weeks.
After the doctors gather and review the data they need from the intracranial EEG, she will be scheduled for surgery. When she comes home from this surgery, she will not be able return to work for 2 months.
This surgery is necessary for a variety of reasons, one of which being that a year ago, Christine was in an accident due to a seizure, and her driver's license was suspended. Her license cannot be reinstated until she has gone 6 months without a seizure, which is impossible without the surgery.
Christine will have no income during her 2 week hospital stay and during the 2 months of recovery after surgery. As a single mother, this makes life incredibly difficult. We are asking for help with her rent, utilities, food, insurance, prescriptions, amd gas for follow-up appointments in Kansas City.
Additionally, Christine currently has a little over $8,200 in medical bills. Any donations not used for her living expenses and current medical care will be used to pay for her past medical expenses.
We appreciate your time and any help you are able to give to this beautiful and deserving woman!

Thank you!
Love,
