Chasing Soccer Dreams across the pond!

Hi, my name is Sebastian Gunderson, and I have been given this opportunity to travel to the United Kingdom and represent Southern Colorado on a soccer team playing against high-caliber Academy teams in Manchester. I am from Colorado Springs, the Olympic City.

I have been playing soccer since I was three years old, starting in Austin, Texas. My entire time playing soccer has been the best thing to ever happen to me. Ever since starting the sport, it has been nothing but an uphill climb. Over the years, I have moved up from parks and recreation to competitive soccer, and through my club team, I have had opportunities that happen once in a lifetime. We won President's Cup just last year and traveled to Utah for regionals representing my age group for the state of Colorado. That was my first experience of seeing how competitive the soccer world is, filled with people like me chasing our dreams. Earlier this year, we traveled to Las Vegas to participate in the Mayor’s Cup, playing teams across the country and placing 2nd. And as we finished up our spring season, we were able to participate in State Cup, where we fought our way to the finals. We were just short of gold after a hard-fought game, going to penalties after overtime. And now, the opportunity to take my talents out of the country has arisen. I am so beyond thrilled for this opportunity, but I can’t do this alone. I wouldn’t have been able to dream of this opportunity just a few months ago, and here I am, trying to make this dream a reality.

Growing up, the most prominent supporter in my and my twin brother’s soccer endeavor was my father. We were raised by him single-handedly, and he has pushed us tremendously throughout the years. However, he is not prepared to burden the costs of my international soccer dreams, and he does have my brothers and sister to look after. I am now taking matters into my own hands as I strive to play at the highest level possible. I understand the significance of asking for your support and will not take it for granted. I will commit to representing my supporters and giving it my all to pursue my soccer dreams!

These funds raised will help relieve travel costs and the fees for the program as a whole, as well as lodging and food.
