Chasing My NYU Dream
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Chelsea! I'm a born and raised Texan who just recently and unexpectedly got accepted to New York University in New York City. It is not only a dream come true for me, but also a dream that I am desperate to pursue in order to further develop my education.
I am currently an undergraduate majoring in Psychology because I am passionate about mental health and hope to one day bring more awareness to the topic through helping others. Possibly even one day branching out my education further to become a Psychiatrist, or at least something that allows me to help others.
In 2018, I graduated a year earlier than intended with a GED. Following that, I had a 6-year break from education until I started college at the beginning of 2024. Even with having such a gap in my education, I managed to survive 17 hours in my first-ever semester with a 3.6 GPA and kept the same GPA in my second semester.
This is a very important chapter in my life, but the cost of living and getting settled in NYC isn't cheap, nor does the university have available housing this late. I'm hoping to avoid student loans, but even if I were to get them, my acceptance to NYU was so late that I wouldn't have them in time to find a place to live and get settled. I will never have an opportunity like this again and I am so truly invested in this journey that I'd hate to miss out on it because of the cost of moving and living. If you are able to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it and hope that one day I can pay my community back when I am able to make a name for myself.
