Have you ever crossed paths with someone and you think to yourself, "Wow, this person is a total badass! He never gives up!"? Well, I have and his name is Chase Higgins.
Hi there, my name is MiRanda Snyder and I am the cousin of 29 year old, Chase Higgins. Chase’s medical story started with simple COVID symptoms on December 6th, but by December 10th his symptoms quickly escalated to be life-threatening. Since December 10th Chase has been in critical condition, in the ICU, at Berkeley Medical Center in Martinsburg, WV. He was intubated on December 26th and remains intubated still today.
Throughout his stay in the ICU, Chase continues to overcome set-back after set-back. Despite all the odds stacked against him, he has refused to give up in this fight for his life and the family continues to fight with him. Our family is very fortunate that this hospital does allow Chase a visitor by his side during visiting hours; however, it is one person…and one person only. Chase’s mother and sister (Kelle and Raykelle) have worked together to ensure that one of them are with Chase every day for every minute that a visitor is allowed to be there.
On February 3rd, Chase’s story was posted on the front page of “The Journal,” a local Martinsburg newspaper. The family was very grateful for the amount of love and support we received from the entire community. We have had multiple requests for a GoFundMe page to be set up to allow family, friends and the community to donate and support Chase’s ongoing battle.
We can't thank each of you all enough for your generous donations, kind words, positive energy and prayers during this time! Our family is truly blessed to have such a wonderful support system.
