Hello, we are the Heuer family and we are fundraising for our son/grandson Chase as he recovers from a spinal fusion. One month from today, 12/14/23, Chase will undergo a 6 hour surgery to perform a spinal fusion in his back. Chase is no stranger to surgeries and struggles. When Chase was 2 he was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and has had an uphill battle ever since. After undergoing an eye surgery he was able to thrive. With therapies and lots of love he was a happy, sweet little boy. Fast forward to 2017... after finding a small mass in his testicle Chase underwent another surgery to remove and biopsy it. It was cancer. To be specific it was Rhabdomyosarcoma, a soft tissue cancer. The tumor was removed and had negative margins. What a blessing. To be safe chemo was recommended. A port was placed and our brave warrior underwent almost 1 full year of chemo every week. The strength and bravery Chase had was so inspiring to so many. Chemo was completed and post treatment scans were done quarterly then bi yearly and finally none! He was cancer free and ready to live his best life. Chase is a 7th grade student and doing so great this year! He is meeting his IEP goals and continues to show kindness and strength every day. After a routine well child check up his Dr recommended an X-ray to check out his spine and some curving. We had no idea it would be as bad as it is. At nearly a 70* curve, surgery is required to fix it. This surgery will be very rough recovery. Chase will be out of school for 6-8 weeks. Initially they say around the clock care is needed almost like a new born baby. Chase and I are familiar with these unfortunate situations and are a great team! He knows Mama is his number one advocate and cheerleader! Surgery is December 14th and up to a 6 day hospital stay brings us home right around December 20 and Christmas is right around the corner. We are hoping to celebrate a successful surgery and be home with our loved ones. Please pray for Chase! We are calling on all prayer warriors out there to pray for Chase and lift him up!! Any extra help around this scary, difficult time will tremendously impact our family and help with medical bills, time needed off work, and give Chase the special holiday he deserves.
