Chase’s Recovery from Splenectomy Complications
Donation protected
Last week, we found a mass on Chase’s spleen, so I elected to do a splenectomy for him. Surgery went well, and we found out the mass was a hematoma, but he ended up going to the ER and hospitalized for what we would soon find out was a septic abdomen and infected incision. After a week of hospitalization with daily wound debridements, I was able to bring Chase home for the weekend to do home care until he could continue treatment with surgery on Monday.
Although, he continues to make small improvements each day, he’s not out of the woods and the small complications we have run into has caused an increase to his estimate. We are so close to getting him through this, but the expenses are adding up and surpassing what I can handle quickly.
We appreciate all the love from friends and family, sending well wishes and helping out where they can. For anyone who is also able to spare a few dollars to help Chase through his (hopefully) last surgery, I will be forever indebted to you.
