Some stories find you when you least expect them — and Chase’s story is one of those unforgettable ones.

A few winters ago (Jan. ‘22), a wandering pittie we lovingly called “Mr. Rogers” found himself alone, cold, and scared. He was spotted in Windsong during freezing rain, wearing a soggy sweater, a chain collar, and trying to survive the harsh winter conditions. During the day, he would casually gallop around the neighborhood, but it was clear this sweet boy had been abandoned and desperately needed a safe place to land.

With the incredible help of our friend Kacy with Hope’s Rescue and Recovery Angels, along with the compassion and support of so many neighbors, we were able to safely capture him in the ravine near the garden before another night of freezing temperatures arrived.

That’s when Karmita and Pietro stepped in.

After recently losing their beloved boxers, they decided it was time to open their hearts, home, and couch to this sweet boy — never realizing they were about to begin another unforgettable adventure.

Chase quickly became the perfect couch potato… until life had another surprise in store.

While Karmita and Pietro were out of the country and a family member was staying at their home, Chase went on another adventure. He escaped and spent several days roaming the neighborhood, scared and searching for his people. Despite everyone’s best efforts, he was too frightened to be caught by strangers.

Then came the moment everyone had been praying for….After a sighting near the elementary school one evening, Pietro rushed over hoping to find his boy. The second Chase heard his dad’s voice, he came running — straight back into the arms of the person who had saved him.

Now Chase needs us again!!

Sweet Chase has been diagnosed with a cancerous thyroid tumor and needs surgery to remove it. This procedure will give him the chance at the happy, healthy life he so deserves with the family who never stopped fighting for him.

Karmita has been doing everything she can to make this possible, even hoping for extra real estate opportunities to help cover his care (because we all know the market isn’t making things easy right now). Now she is reaching out to the same community that helped save Chase before.
