In October 2019, police were called to an illegal hare coursing incident on farmland in South Oxfordshire. I was one of the attending officers and on arrival, I was led by the farmer to a dog who had been left behind, it was Chase. A young, skinny lurcher who was extremely malnourished and riddled with flees and wounds.
He was the most gentle and caring dog and I decided there and then that I would be taking him home with me to give him a better life. After a brief stint in the kennels to establish that he did not have a registered owner and to take care of his immediate medical needs, I was given the all clear to take him home to begin his new life.

Chase has been with us now for near on 5 years and he’s had the best time. From trips to the beach to trekking around the Lake District, he’s managed to do what a dog should be doing, enjoying life. He gets to sleep on the sofa every night, wrapped up in a blanket and no longer has to scavenge for food. He is the best big brother to Lilo (our Italian Greyhound) and they are inseparable. I’ve never met a dog who has a personality like Chase.

Unfortunately, after suddenly becoming poorly, Chase has been diagnosed with high grade canine lymphoma that has spread throughout his body. He is only around 6 years old and was supposed to have so much more life left to live, although his cancer cannot be cured, we want to do everything we can to knock it into remission.
With vet bills estimated to go into the region of £6000-£8000 any help would be immensely appreciated in order to give him the chance he deserves.
Thank you for taking the time to read.
