2/27/17 Chase's Story....Chase and my daughter, love at first sight! He would sleep on her shoe until she would come home from work as a baby.
7 years later....Chase is down a very long road...
My daughter came home on Thursday the 23rd of February to her beloved furbaby, Chase, being paralyzed from the waist down.  Unsure of what happened, they had taken Chase to their normal vet immediately. The doctor came in, gave Chase a cortisone shot  and told them to take him to Oradell Animal Hospital emergency room ASAP. Once they had examined Chase they had told them they had a 24 hour window from when he lost function in his legs to have surgery to give him a chance from permenant paralysis but there is not guarantee. He had IVDD. With no hesistation, they signed to have surgery. The look on my daughter's face was such a sense of loss, there was really nothing anyone can say or do to take that pain away. As a mother, to see my daughter like this when she is ordinarily the tough one, broke my heart.
Once the surgery was over, the doctor's would call with conflicting updates about deep pain feeling. Without this deep pain feeling, the long term prognosis is not good. They did call on 3/1/17 saying his right is feeling something. This deep pain is usually a marker for determining if the dog will be paralyzed. Milica Radovanovic, DVM at Oradell Animal Hospital, has been with him morning, noon and night, calling me to give me updates. The following is Chase 7 days post op.  Also, here is apicture of his scar and how nicely it is healing.
The next few weeks are going to be rather difficult because once Chase is released, he will need 24  hour after care for the first few weeks until it can be deemed whether he will improve at all.  This may result in my daughter possibly leaving her job.  The surgery alone has costed them close to 10k and this is where I would like to start the fund for Chase to somewhat give relief to her as we start this long journey of recovery for him.  If he ends up permantely paralyzed, he will need physical therapy and a wheelchair which will also be costly. If you could find it in your heart to help her furbaby Chase, I, as well as her, will be eternally grateful.  Chase is her baby that she has had since 6 weeks old. He means everything to her.

He also has a facebook group page called " Chase's Long Road to Recovery" to follow his road.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Chase's heart, my daughter and her husband's heart.
Here we are 3/18/17....He is trying to stand on his own. The help I am asking for is merely for hospital costs. Not the physical therapy or wheelchair. Thank you for all your help and those who have helped. We are eternally grateful.
