Chase is taking on Stanford ❤️
Chase was born in 2011 with several congenital heart defects that has required him to have an extensive surgical history including 4 open heart surgeries and roughly 15-20 heart catheterizations. Chase’s cardiac anomalies are complicated by a rare genetic syndrome known as Alagille syndrome that has not allowed his lung arteries to grow appropriately, which puts tremendous strain on his Right ventricle. Over the last several caths, Chase’s current team in Dallas has not been able to make as much progress in the cath lab and a second opinion was initiated with a center who specializes in pulmonary stenosis complicated by Alagille syndrome.
Chase will be headed to Lucile Packard Stanford Children’s hospital in Palo Alto, California for a massive open heart surgery. They are planning to do a bilateral pulmonary artery reconstruction with an aortic arch repair and an RV-PA conduit change out- they have ball parked it to be about a 13-16 hour surgery. Chase will go the week before to meet with the Alagille clinic and have a cardiac cath so they can get more accurate measurements of his pressures and finalize their surgical plan before opening him up the following week.
The hopes of this surgery would be that Chase would no longer need to go to the cath lab for stent dilations and placement every year and in turn will vastly improve his quality of life pending no complications arise during the recovery process.
All funds donated will help offset the expense of traveling and being off work for an extended period of time for both Matt and I. We appreciate all the prayers and support for our family and for Chase ❤️
