Chase Family Needs Your Kindness

Dear family, friends, LIFEChurch family and community,

I am reaching out on behalf of Mike and Cheryl Chase who are long time members of LIFEChurch, along with his mother, Jean. Mike has suffered from diabetes for many years which has had a profound effect on his health. About three years ago, he developed very serious complications including blindness as well as kidney failure that necessitates kidney dialysis three times weekly. As a result, he is unable to work and is on disability. To make ends meet, Cheryl has worked two jobs as a fast food restaurant manager and as a food delivery person. In June of 2024, three grandchildren joined their household so Cheryl could no longer work the long hours she had previously worked. This put additional financial strain on the family. In February, Mike developed a bone infection in his right foot. Although he was taking an antibiotic, he became extremely ill and was diagnosed with septic shock due to a blood clot in his leg that prevented the antibiotic from reaching the infected foot. He was given the choice to either have his leg amputated above the knee or go home on Hospice. Although there were major concerns about his surviving the surgery, God answered our many prayers and Mike is currently recovering!

We are very grateful for these answered prayers, but Mike still has significant challenges to overcome. Once he is released from the hospital, he will need inpatient rehabilitation. Although 60 days is recommended for his situation, his insurance will only pay for 20 days. Since the cost is prohibitive without insurance, the current plan is for Mike to be discharged after 20 days and receive physical therapy at home. During the time he is rehabilitating at home, he will not be able to care for himself yet, so Cheryl will need to be home with him. Since the family relies very heavily on Cheryl's income and she has had to miss weeks of work already, the family REALLY needs assistance. We are asking for the following:

3 months of Cheryl’s lost wages @ $1900 per month - $5700

20% copay for a Hoyer Lift for the home - $1400

Other needed Durable Medical Equipment - $300

Estimated cost of transportation to College Station

from February until discharge - $530

TOTAL - $7930

We fervently ask for prayers for this family – strength for Mike and for his successful physical rehabilitation, for peace and perseverance, for emotional healing for all, for safe travels, and for God’s glory to be magnified through this situation.
