On Friday, June 19th, Chris (Chas) woke up with severe chest pain and breathing difficulty, so he went to the ER. While there, he had a chest x-ray, blood work, and a COVID test. He was told that "everything appeared fine" and was sent home. On Monday, June 21st, he felt no better and returned to the ER...where they did another chest x-ray and sent him back home. Yesterday morning (June 28), he woke me up at 2:00 a.m. because he couldn't breathe. I took him to the ER and they finally did an EKG - NINE DAYS after he first reported immense chest pain and breathing difficulty. 

The EKG results were irregular and there were concerning enzymes in his heart, so that prompted a cath. That procedure showed three blocked arteries - ranging from 70-90% blockage (the 90% blockage being in a main artery). So surgery is a must. He will be having open heart surgery to bypass the three arteries Wednesday morning (July 1) at 8:00 a.m. 

He will be in the hospital for at least a week longer. And then he will need a few additional weeks to heal. He's already talking about work and how many hours he needs to get and how much he has to do in order to maintain his current income. (For those who may not know, we made the decision to homeschool our seven-year-old, Aleks, and, for that reason, I am not currently working. So, as of now, his income is the only income.) 

That brings me to the purpose of this page:

He needs to be able to focus solely on recovering to avoid worsening his condition due to financial stress. The amount listed would allow him to take about a month off of work without concern.
