Charlotte’s Vet Treatment

Our beautiful Charlotte came to us about a year ago, he had been living in a dog crate, covered in mange, malnourished and having no idea how to be a pig. His owners thought he was a girl.
The day we brought him home he whizzed around his pen and learnt all about new foods, fruit and vegetables and how humans weren’t all scary!!
Charlotte has blossomed in our care, he has grown, become more pig, shown us love and most of all he has found his true love, Dotty ❤️ he has stolen our hearts.
A couple of weeks ago we knew something wasn’t right with Charlotte, he seemed down and had lost some weight. We called the vets and we treated him with some pain relief, antibiotics and we wormed him, feeling this was the right path for his mystery illness. We also ensured Charlotte was getting all he needed in terms of food and nutrition.
Sadly Charlotte has made little improvements, he has continued to loose weight and last night become sad and withdrawn, not eating and wanting to return to his bed. My gut gave me that pulling feeling of despair and fear.
Because Charlotte is a pig, our usual vets don’t have the facilities to perform further tests to explore what’s going on, even though he is the same size as a spaniel. It’s still not allowed. There was not much more we could do for him.
However, late last night, our vets agreed to refer us to a specialist university vets in Cambridge - where they will do everything they can to find out what’s happening for Charlotte and we are praying they can make him better.
So at 3:30am this morning we began the 3 hour trip to hopefully save his little life
We are unsure of the cost of the treatments that he will need but from experience we know this will potentially go above and beyond £1,000.
We understand these are hard times for everyone, but if you can, please help us to fund Charlotte’s treatment and if you aren’t in a position to help then please share his story ❤️❤️
