We eagerly prepared for Charlotte’s arrival for nine exciting months, but had to plan our goodbye in minutes. Those minutes were clouded with the trauma of a lifeless delivery, the exhaustion of a 27 hour labor, and the shock of being told that we would never bring home our long-awaited baby girl. Our family would have given everything we had to keep her with us for just a moment longer. We would like to give the small comfort of time to other families facing stillbirth so that their goodbyes aren’t as abrupt as ours had to be.
The CuddleCot™ is a cooling device that fits discreetly into a bassinet. It allows families to spend extra time with their baby after death. The CuddleCot™ gives them time to create keepsakes, make important decisions, and do something that is meaningful without feeling rushed. Families may choose to invite others to meet the little one, a ritual that helps surround themselves with the support that they will need as they grieve their child.
Stillbirth effects 1% of all pregnancies. Each year about 24,000 babies are stillborn in the United States. That is 24,000 families with mothers, fathers, siblings, uncles, aunts, and grandparents desperate for a little more time to say goodbye.
How much is a minute with your child worth to you?
Please help us share Charlotte’s Purpose and give that minute back to grieving families. Funds collected will go toward purchasing a CuddleCot™ for Holy Cross Hospital and a memorial plaque to be mounted on the CuddleCot™. Additional funds will be used to purchase an additional CuddleCot™ for another local hospital and/or further the mission of Charlotte’s Purpose through providing resources, infant burial gowns, and support for families or stillborn babies.
