In December 2017 Charlotte, at age 19, started experiencing ‘flashing’ in her eyes and severe headaches. With many unknowns, fast forward to July 2018, when Charlotte had emergency brain surgery for a suspected AVM (arteriovenous malformation- a tangled mass of blood vessels). It wasn’t until August 2018, when pathology results came back, that she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Brain Cancer (Glioblastoma). Doctors, family and friends alike were shocked.

In September 2018 Charlotte started treatment which included radiation and chemotherapy. Currently, Charlotte still is doing chemo and also does a Vitamin C IV 2-3 days a week at a naturopath specializing in cancer.

Char, through it all, has been incredibly strong and resilient. If you ask anyone who knows her, she radiates positivity. When you are around her, you cannot help but be in a great mood. Her strength and positivity is unwavering and encourages others to follow suit.

In June 2019, Charlotte, along with some close friends, raised over $3000 for Relay for Life. An event at Rustica, in Orillia, will be taking place to raise funds for Charlotte’s treatments and donations to local cancer charities. Once again, a very clear sign of how amazing she is!
