Charlotte Parks Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Our mother Charlotte Parks was a woman who with her limited resources never hesitated to do for others what she could, especially for us, her children. Our names are Jamie Robinson, Michael Utley, Alicia Robinson and DeWayne Parks. Which is why we wish to use these funds to give back to her in a way that we know she would have wanted, along with tying up loose ends with expenses to transition our family through the next few months, these funds are ultimately to help us get our mothers ashes to the ocean. The two oldest children of hers (Jamie Robinson and Michael Utley) ultimately take responsibility for the funds, and consequently the expenses as well. Growing up in Haughville Indiana, my mother born Charlotte Elnore Smith was the youngest of four, preceded by the late Dorian Fleming, and survived by Jacqueline Fleming, and Michael Fleming.
Charlotte loved her family above everything else. Charlotte was known universally as a woman with an amazing free spirit and an open heart. Despite any and all hardships Charlotte faced she always kept the most beautiful smile and an amazing attitude, and Charlotte’s faith gave her the ability to face the most difficult trials and tribulations and not just persevere but thrive. It is perhaps, this innate ability that allowed her to overcome addiction in the end. Charlotte undoubtedly had a significant impact on the Narcotics Anonymous (NA) community, perhaps because of a combination of her dedication to unwavering honesty, her open heart and mind , her impeccable optimism, and maybe even her radiant beauty that she maintained throughout her life. Charlotte’s compassion for others perhaps best expressed in her ability to bring people together for a good meal and a beautiful voice. Charlotte’s cooking never failed to impress a crowd. Charlotte’s humility, honesty, compassion and love made her a staple in all the communities she found herself calling home.
Charlotte attended schools in Wayne Township, including Stoutfield Elementary and McCllend elementary where she graduated primary school. In her early years, She sang in both choirs.Charlotte was a soprano. She was also invited to join the Indianapolis Children’s Choir. Charlotte became a certified nursing assistant in 1998. After this time Charlotte would go on to serve as a CNA for over 18 years. She was also apart of the children’s and mass choir.
Charlotte passed away at work as a home health aid on May 7 2020. Due to complications with cancer, a battle she had been consciously been fighting for 5 years although it may have persisted for much longer. Our mothers unwavering motivation to do what she could will remain with us forever, and although she may no longer be by our side she will be forever in our hearts.
