Charlotte is a daughter, a sister, a granddaughter, a niece, a cousin, a friend, a student, a coworker....and much, much more!! Thank you for your prayers, sharing and donating! Any money raised will go Charlotte's care, supplements, medications not covered, and the things she needs to make her comfortable. Charlotte is in need of shots to "put her ovaries to sleep" so that she hopefully can have children when she is ready. One shot for one month with a discount card is over 1,000.00. She needs the shot ASAP as she will start Chemo on March 2nd. She will need at least 6 of these, as she will need at least 6 months of Chemo.
I am Charlotte's mom and I am setting this on behalf of her. Her many friends, teachers, co-workers and family have requested it be set up for her. I am so grateful for any and all prayers, shares and donations she receives. Cancer is so hard and especially for an 18 year old to go through, that being said I don't want her to think about anything but fighting this battle and winning!
Charlotte's Story....
This time last year Charlotte was thinking about upcoming exams, getting a full ride scholarship, finding a job, what she wanted to be in life and we can't forget going to the beach.
She did well on exams, got her scholarship to Charleston Southern University Honors college, got a job she loves, decided she wanted to be a lawyer, and still loves to go to the beach!
She started college in the fall, around the end of August she had a swollen gland on her left side of her neck, went to the dr. got an antibiotic for a really bad infection, the swelling in her gland started to go down and life got real busy, working and going to college full time. As time for exams came around (within 3 weeks) her neck started to swell, she was losing weight, was very fatigued, started to have a dry cough and the need to clear her throat. A trip to the primary care dr. revealed she had lost 25lbs, and that she needed to see and ENT for an ultrasound.
Early January a trip to the ENT revealed that she needed a needle biopsy rather than an ultrasound. 3 days later we got devastating news, Charlotte had Hodgkin’s. One week later we were doing outpatient surgery to find the type of Hodgkin’s she has. After surgery talking to the Dr. he removed the smallest lymph node and it was the size of a baseball and down under her collar bone. One week later we went for a PET/CT scan and it revealed Charlotte has stage 4-B Hodgkin’s, with detections in her neck, chest, spleen, liver and skeleton. Course of planned treatment is Port placement (2-24) and her first Chemo treatment (3-2) with treatment every other week for at least 6 months. We will have a repeat PET scan after 2 sets of treatment.
With that being said as we journey through this valley I hope you get to know Charlotte if you don't already, and If you already know her I hope this site can keep you up to date with her recovery!
Thank you again for all the prayers; we have faith that she will receive a full recovery!
