Hi everyone. I’m fundraising for Charlotte Laverty, daughter to Joanna & Dan, sister to Parker & Kelsey & nephew to Stacey & Jennifer.
Charlotte is a sweet, caring & strong 15 year old who up until a few days ago, was enjoying her summer. As many of you know, out of the blue on July 13, 2024 she experienced a grand mal seizure that lasted more than ten minutes. Her quick thinking twin brother, Parker, called 911 and directed the ambulance to their home where paramedics rushed her to Winthrop Hospital. Kelsey, her older sister handled an array of things while Joanna and Dan were with the doctors. Due to the nature of the seizure, Charlotte was expectedly terrified and required significant sedation. Charlotte’s aunts Stacey and Jennifer helped keep Charlotte safe in the emergency room. Four days later on July 17, after being stabilized, Charlotte was discharged and went home. Unfortunately, 9 days later Charlotte suddenly experienced a second grand male seizure where she was rushed back to Winthrop and placed on a ventilator. Thankfully, 2 days later she was taken off the ventilator and switched to a different breathing machine that forces air from the outside in rather than still being tubed. The doctors from numerous departments are still perplexed as to why these seizures continue and why she is unable to breathe on her own. With a new diagnosis of Graves Disease, which is a form of Hyperthyroidism Charlotte and her family must navigate this new norm. While this can be addressed, the current concern, though, is this second seizure. Charlotte’s doctors are perplexed and the Laverty’s are now reaching out to out-of-network doctors to figure out why Charlotte has experienced a second seizure and how to safely move forward. Any help sent their way will be used towards Charlotte’s medical team as the medical bills add up. We are trying to take the impending financial burden out of their minds while they focus on what is truly important, the health of Charlotte. Thank you all for your time and generosity.
