September 25, 2019 Charlotte went to her routine 6 month check up. Upon initial examination, her pediatrician sent her to Cincinnati Children's Hospital suspecting pneumonia. The emergency department team quickly learned she was in heart failure. Charlotte was later diagnosed with dialated cardiomyopathy, a congenital heart disease. This is something Lottie will deal with the rest of her life. The cardiologists told us it was a miracle she survives the first night. It will be a long journey to recover enough to leave Children's.
