In April 2024, our brother, Carlos/Charlie, suffered an aortic dissection that left him paraplegic at the age of 62. In the year and several months following this catastrophic event, Charlie has required multiple surgeries, hospitalizations, medical visits, and therapies. The difficulty of transporting Charlie greatly complicates meeting his needs; moving him from his wheelchair to the car and from the car to his wheelchair repeatedly is very difficult, as it requires more than one person and takes valuable time away from his complex routine of care and medical visits. Charlie's family and friends have created this “GoFundMe” to help them purchase a van where Charlie can ride directly with his wheelchair.
