Charlie’s Mast Cell Surgery

I want to introduce you to my best friend of four years, Charlie.

I got Charlie as an eight month old puppy off Craig’s List. What started as a sporadic decision ended up being one of the best decisions I ever made. Her crazy anxious energy, love for the outdoors, and running made us a perfect match.

One weekend my roommate was watching her and felt a bump on her shoulder. Concerned, I got her into the vet right away where they took a sample of the area. After looking at the cells under the microscope, they decided to send the sample off to another pathologist for a more in-depth look.

On Nov, 12, I received a call from the vet with news I didn’t want to hear. Charlie has a Mast cell tumor. I never expected something like this because she has always been healthy and active. To determine what grade the tumor is, Dr. Leuger must remove it. After all these tests, surgery and the recovery, the approximate cost of it all will be roughly $1,500.
