Charlie's Emergency Medical Bill

Donation protected
My beloved Charlie has suffered kidney failure this week.   The vet is not sure the cause yet - the first round of tests are today - but she has to be on fluids and medicine around the clock for at least 3 days in order to get her kidneys working again.

The cause might be infection, something she ate, or age related - but this week her kidneys took a sudden and sharp decline.   The next 3 days of treatment are key if she is to recover.

Since I have my own cancer medical costs and expenses, this struck me off guard.  As we do, I have just pulled out the credit cards, but I am reaching out to my friends and those who love Charlie and have been touched by her in order to help with the sudden, rather large cost of around the clock care, tests and treatment.

Charlie's survival depends on the next few days of treatment.   She is receiving IV fluids and medicine to stimulate her kidneys into functioning again.  I decided to do outpatient treatment, so she will be on antibiotics, IV fluids and medicine at the vet all day, then come home with me at night.

She only stopped eating yesterday - same day I was at the hospital all day getting a blood transfusion - so hopefully we have caught this in time.

The IV fluids and medicine are meant to stimulate her kidneys to begin functioning again.  I have a friend whose dog had this last year and recovered nicely.  So the hope is her kidneys begin functioning again and the cause can be found and treated.

The worst outcome would be that this is completely age related and she will not recover.  But with the sudden onset, they think it's possibe for her to recover.
So now is a very very delicate time.  Charlie is at Blue Cross Animal Hospital in North Hollywood, where we've been going for several years.  I feel she is in good hands.

Those of you that know me know Charlie is my shadow.  My constant companion.  She has travelled with me, come to the office with me and has been my side kick and companion for the last twelve years since I adopted her from the South LA Shelter.    She is one of the kindest, more gentlest soul I have ever encountered.   Charlie loves people and has her own barks and sounds for each of her human friends.   She also loves dogs, both big and small.   Everyone always comments that I must be a great "trainer", but the truth is Charlie is just an awesome dog who has always been gentle and obedient.
Thank you so much for any help you can give!
