Hi, my name is Charlie, and I’m starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my dad. He was the victim of an attempted carjacking at gunpoint on March 31, 2025. The assailant shot him in the left side of his chest, and the bullet traveled through to his neck, causing serious and complicated damage. He remains in the hospital and his medical team continues to work around the clock to treat him and assess what his recovery will entail.

My father is someone who means everything to our family, and this horrible event has completely changed all our lives. Seeing him like this—unable to speak or move and barely able to communicate—has been heartbreaking. But we are holding on to hope.

In addition to covering the ever-increasing medical and household bills along with the expenses that come with being at the hospital daily tending to my dad, we are also working on finding a way for my grandmother—his mother—to obtain a visa so she can travel from Guatemala to be by his side. She’s desperate to see and comfort her son, and we know how much it would mean for both of them to be together as he continues to fight.
