Charlie Kerr's Recovery
Donation protected
Hello everybody. The reason for this page is obvious, but I want to quickly share with you what got Charlie here and explain what are goals are with this GoFundMe.
As many of you know, my brother Charlie got in a motorcycle accident on Sunday. The accident ripped half his chest off to the bone and most critically, bruised his lungs badly. The night he was brought to the hospital, the nurses and doctors said they almost lost him several times before finally getting his lungs to accept the ventilator that was breathing for him. Doctors immediately intubated (made medically unconscious) Charlie and told us he would be that way for at least the next 2-3 days while his body tried recovering on life support. Being the fighter Char Bar is, he fought to open his eyelids the very next day and struggled to write out several messages. Doctors couldn't believe it and ever since then, he has slowly weened himself off life support and the oxygen they are providing him is now minimal.
Long story short, Charlie is recovering as best he can and doctors are very encouraged by his improvements but that's not to say it's been very painful, exhausting and far from comfortable for Charlie. Nonetheless, Charlie may have bruised lungs and have a chest that needs reconstructive surgery...but we are grateful he is ALIVE.
Charlie has survived, God has carried him out of critical condition, and now despite having reconstructive plastic surgery for his chest this coming Monday, he is breathing on his own and slowly allowing his lungs to heal.
The hardest (and scariest) part is over. Thank God and all of you who were praying and sending love his way.
The reason for this page is obvious. Though insurance will help cover a large part of Charlie's medical expenses, there will be a lot that will need to be paid out of pocket. Our goal is set at $1 because ultimately any amount you choose to donate is a blessing and will help our family handle the financial side of Charlie's accident.
We love you all. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers. Also, a huge thank you to Charlie's friend Daniela for making this page happen. :)
