Charlie's Broken Heart

My good friend, Charlie Dillard, has a broken heart and not the Country Western kind.
After a prolonged illness these past few months, he was diagnosed with an infection surrounding his heart that has significantly affected his lifelong heart murmur. He is currently being treated for the infection and will need an Aortic Valve Replacement. As an added bonus, an Aortic embolism was discovered that will also need repair.
The good news is that this is mechanical and the docs caught it in time. The bad news is that Charlie is looking at a 6-9 month unpaid, time-out. As an early adopter of the Gig economy, he is facing the loss of his income as a freelance carpenter while he goes through open heart surgery and cardiac rehab. He's a single father and is going to need help with continuing medical bills and living expenses during this time period.
Charlie has always been extremely generous with his time and energy, and is a kind soul. Now he needs us, so I am trying to raise $18,000 to help Charlie through this challenge.
