UPDATE 4/1/2024

Charlie made a show on 3/16 by opening his eyes for us. Since that day he has beating the odds and fighting to come back to us. He is no longer in ICU. He has been super active with trying to move around. He could never sit still before and still can't. On 3/26 they decided to deflate the trach and place a speech valve on it to allow him to speak. Let me tell you Friday was for sure a Good Friday. Since then he has been speaking more and wanting to keep doing things to be able to come home to his family. He still has a long ways to go before then, but he is determined to keep pushing forward. Please keep Charlie in your heart and prayers.

UPDATE 3/25/2024,

Charlie is off the Vent but does have a trach with high flow humidified air, which allows him to be moved out of ICU. He still has to keep all stimulation down, or his heart rate goes up, which can cause swelling. He is being monitored for high temps and infections that could cause more problems. He is moving forward, but we are told babysteps are victories, and he is doing babysteps. Charlie has always worked hard for what he wants, and this will be no different. It may take longer, but keeping positive.

Tragedy Struck, Charlie Wilson on March 7th, 2024, on his way to a hazmat meeting in Manawa, WI. He was in a server motorcycle accident with life threating injuries. Flight For Life was called and Charlie is currently in ICU where he is sedated and on ventilation to allow his body to rest and assist with healing. From the accident he sustained a TBI (traumatic brain injury). A procedure was done to place a IVD (Inter Ventricular drain) in the skull to allow the fluid pressure on the brain to drain, with the increased swelling of the brain the Doctor moved forward with removing a portion of his skull to allow for the swelling. He is currently running an unknown fever. At this point in time the main concern and focus is the injury to the brain.

When he wakes up, Charlie will be overwhelmed by the physical, emotional & financial toll due to this tragedy. Words cannot express the anguish Charlie’s loved ones are experiencing as they navigate this challenging situation. He does have a High Deductible insurance but has no other benefits like short-or long-term disability. This financial burden is over whelming.

To know Charlie, you would know he has the biggest heart and would do anything for family, friends, even perfect strangers. So, we are asking you please: Help us Help him in his time of need and despair. Please donate what you can to help Charlie. Any monetary donation would be greatly appreciated, we ask if you are unable to donate, please share maybe someone he helped along the way is able to help him in his time of need.

Charlie takes pride in everything he does. He is selfless, and always goes above and beyond for friends and family. On top of being an amazing father to his kids and friends. He is a volunteer with the Waupaca County Hazmat team. He helps train members, making sure things are organized and supplies are ready for any potential leaks or spills of hazardous substances. He works his dream job as a Parts Manager with Greg’s Speed Shop. He loves working with his customers, especially helping them with making their dreams come true. He enjoys the challenge of helping find those “hard-to-find” parts and talking with them about their families or their next adventure. Charlies’ customers end up turning into his family.
