Charlie, The littlest warrior

We (Kate and Sam’s support network) are organising this to help them grieve and mourn their unimaginable loss without any financial burden.

On Sunday the 26th of February Charlie Hoffmann, a precious 3.4kg ginger-haired bundle of perfection, was brought into this world. Charlie was blessed with his mummy’s beautiful eyes and his daddy’s button nose. Charlie was a warrior; he gave his short life everything he had but heartbreakingly this beautiful soul was taken to heaven on Monday 27th of February.

Charlie was able to spend some precious moments bonding with his loving parents and lay warmly on their chests. He would open his little eyes to the comforting sound of their voices, and he knew how deeply loved he was and still is. Charlie was able to take a breath of fresh air outside the hospital ward with Kate and Sam, allowing him some beautiful family time before leaving this world snuggled safely in his mummy and daddy’s arms.

There is deep gratitude for the existence of the cuddle cot. This amazing gift allowed Kate, Sam, Charlie’s grandparents and family the opportunity to make some beautiful memories sitting around together and to grow an emotional bond with him that will stay with them forever.

This has been a deeply painful and distressing experience, what should have been a joyful new chapter of their lives has been turned into something they could never have imagined. Due to some complications at the end of Kate and Sam’s pregnancy journey, Charlie’s birth story was brought forward and devastatingly out of Kate and Sam’s control.

Respectfully, Kate and Sam are not ready to re-live the traumatic events that took place, but what we can share is that baby Charlie was taken to the NICU and tragically 24 hours later he lost his battle and peacefully left this world.

Kate and Sam are two of the most beautiful souls to grace this earth. Not only are they the first to be strong and available for others, but they have also dedicated their lives to helping people with their careers and Sam’s volunteer work. We will never be able to take away the pain they have experienced but we can show them how loved they and Charlie are.

We thank you for respecting their privacy and allowing them private time to grieve and navigate through this heart-breaking chapter of their lives. They are aware they have a caring army of family and friends around them ready to support them in any way they can. We thank you all and appreciate any contributions you can make so we can give them as much time off work as we can, allowing them to grieve and put their lives back together, and eventually move forward.

(Once we receive our final donation we will transfer this gift as a lump sum to Kate and Sam and give you all an update when we have done this, thank you all so much.)
