Dear Friends,

Just a few months ago, our family fulfilled a lifelong dream by opening Manna, a restaurant in our community of Leucadia. The support we’ve received from all of you has been encouraging and deeply appreciated. Today, we find ourselves in a situation where we must humbly ask for your help.

This Monday morning, my wife was preparing to clean our cafe, and she had our beloved 7-month-old doodle puppy, Charlie, by her side. As she stepped out of her car, Charlie impulsively darted into oncoming traffic right in front of our restaurant on the 101 freeway. My wife rushed into the road, where most cars came to a halt. Regrettably, one reckless driver, traveling at excessive speed, struck Charlie and heartlessly fled the scene. Fortunately, a kind neighbor pursued the car in an attempt to stop it, but the driver sped away even faster. We were not able to obtain any info on the driver.

Charlie sustained multiple serious injuries, including a collapsed and punctured lung, a broken rib, a fractured tibia, and a fractured femur. Miraculously, he has held on and is fighting to recover. However, the cost of his surgery and emergency room care has ballooned to over $15,000, placing a significant financial burden on our family.

We are reaching out to our community, friends, and anyone who can lend a hand during this challenging time. Your contributions, no matter how big or small, will make a world of difference to our family as we work to cover Charlie’s medical expenses. While our three children are overjoyed to have Charlie back home resting, it’s clear that his journey to recovery will be a lengthy one.
