Charlie, our family cat ❤️

Hi, my name is Avery Medeiros and as many of you know, me and my family have two cats — Charlie and Sadie. While Sadie is in perfectly good health, over the past year Charlie’s health has declined.

Around 6 months ago, Charlie began vomiting 4-5 times a day. We took him to the vet and they have done several lab panels, X-rays, and exams. After trying many tests, and racking up over $1,000 in vet bills, we still have no answer as to why Charlie is so sick. We have also tried many medications, including nausea medication, omeprazole, and prescription diet. To this day he is still puking multiple times a day, and not eating nearly as much.

We recently found out he has lost 3 pounds in the past month, which is an extremely rapid weight loss for cats. Our next step is an ultrasound, and GI work up, and these tests will cost us around $1,000 alone. We are also possibly looking at him needing an endoscopy, which can cost thousands of dollars in itself. If we aren’t able to get these tests, we run the risk of surrendering Charlie.

Charlie has been a staple in our family for the last 2 1/2 years. He is one of the funniest, friendliest cats you will ever meet. He constantly wabbles when he walks, and gives everyone at home lots of love. My brother and Charlie have a special bond, I truly think they are best friends. That’s why this post is so hard to make, we absolutely hate seeing our cat sick.

We want the absolute best for him, and unfortunately it is taking a hard financial toll on us. As many of you know, I am a full time college student and work for a non profit answering suicide hotline calls. Unfortunately, my family and I do not have the money to keep up with these constant vet bills.
