Charlie Needs His Angels
My dearest friends, Julie and Jon Lunt, received devastating news about their amazing 13 year old son, Charlie earlier this month.
Charlie was diagnosed with a craniopharyngioma, a rare type of brain tumor that, in Charlies case, is difficult to treat due to the proximity to the optic nerve and pituitary gland. After being on a feeding tube to get him strong enough for surgery, Charlie will have a shunt put in to drain the fluid from the tumor. He will then need 6 weeks of specialized radiation treatments in Jacksonville, Florida to stop the tumors growth and he then faces a life of dealing with the physical and emotional issues this type of tumor causes.
Charlie is a kind, gentle, hilarious, considerate, brave young man whose health has deteriorated over the past couple years. So while there is a tiny bit of relief in finally having answers, you can imagine the devastation this amazing family of three is feeling by the challenges they now have to face... I don't want finances to be one of those challenges.
Canada's healthcare system covers most of Charlie's expenses here, but only covers the cost of airfare for one adult to accompany him for his 6 weeks of treatments in Florida . All other expenses and loss of income are left to Jon and Julie to try and manage. The cost of everything associated with Charlies treatments, such as; accommodations, prescriptions, food, parking, etc. is something they should not have to worry about.
I have set up this fundraiser for the Lunt family because I know they have many amazing "Angels" wanting to help ...
Thank you for your support.
