Charlie hurt himself running at the dog park a few weeks ago & I brought him to the vet this week because he’s been limping & just seemed to be in pain. We got x-rays & the x-rays determined that Charlie tore ligaments in both of his knees, like how people tear their ACL, apparently they’res been strain on his knees for a while now, that I was unaware of & there’s arthritis slowly forming around his knees, one of his knees is chronic & the knee cap is starting to shift out of place due to all of the pressure & stress on his knees causing him to have early arthritis. Apparently this issue can happen to dogs as big as Charlie :(
That being said, Charlie needs TPLO specialty surgery, he needs a metal plate put into the chronic knee & another surgery on the other, it’s suggested he does both at once so he doesn’t favor one knee over the other during the process. I researched this surgery & there is a very high success rate, so not doing this is not an answer, Charlie is not himself without going to the dog park or being able to play fetch & it breaks my heart that I have to restrict him from any activities. I am fully determined to raise $ & get this done ASAP, Charlie is way too young to have these problems & has a whole life ahead of him! Until then Charlie is taking it easy at home, limited activity & still in some pain, he is on anti inflammatories & joint health supplements to help him with the discomfort. Please help Charlie out, he’s the best & sweetest dog ever, he’s been soo strong dealing with this & he deserves relief & to live the rest of his life playing fetch like he loves & being able to run on all fours!
