It's time for the big one. I'm running the London Marathon this year. (That's still wild to say out loud.)
It's a once in a lifetime opportunity. And I'm determined to make the biggest impact I can to support a really special local charity.
It's no exaggeration to say that youth theatre changed my life. It grew my confidence and sense of self, and taught me how to take risks, make clear decisions, and ask better questions. I learned so much about stories, people, community, and collaboration.
I believe that everyone should have the same opportunity to explore their creativity.
But, sadly, the arts are becoming harder to access every year.
Theatre Peckham are a brilliant, deeply-rooted local charity who are fighting for better. They offer arts education and drama training for 3-25 year olds. They illuminate underrepresented voices and build community.
In their own words...
Theatre Peckham is a learning theatre that champions artistic excellence and social change for young people (YP) and our hyper-local community. We are building a representative and inclusive world where everyone can participate in, lead, work in, and enjoy creativity and culture. Side-by-side with performances on our stage, we provide a voice, platform and opportunities for YP from underrepresented backgrounds to realise their potential. We provide a safe space within which local YP aged 3-25 can reflect on, and creatively communicate lived experiences, enjoy performing arts and mentorship opportunities, following supported pathways leading to tangible employment/education opportunities within the creative industries.
By running what is frankly a ridiculously long way, I'm determined to support their work and help more young people unlock their creativity. I'd love it if you could join me.
There are no understudies on this one: But you can follow my progress on Strava.
Thank you.
