Helping Charlie
Donation protected
Just a few short works ago, Sam Smith, her husband Ben and the 4 children were away on the coast. What they didn't expect to come home to, was a diagnosis of cancer. Charlie (15), had been complaining of stitch-like symptoms in his side. After several trips to the doctors and blood tests and scans later, Charlie has been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare type of bone cancer, which usually hits children and young adults between 10-20 years. As you can imagine, this has come as a complete shock to the entire family and we are hoping this page will help take some of the pressure, off what is a very difficult time for Charlie and the family. At just 15, as you can imagine, Charlie has lots of friends and loves to socialise with them. Whilst he is undergoing extensive treatments and hospital stays, he is having to miss out on school trips, nights with his friends and his GADGETS! This money is designed to help Charlie get out and about when he is feeling up to it, provide some additional funds towards his families stay and the rest will be donated to a charity of their choice after the treatment has finished. Charlie is from Melton Mowbray (Leicestershire), but receiving the majority of his treatment in Nottingham. This travelling would be challenging for anyone, but with a mum who struggles with her own health and a step-dad who doesn't drive, its very challenging!
Even if you cannot donate, even just 50p, a share to your wider friends/family would be much appreciated by all involved.
