Charlie Hounslow Fight Brain Cancer
Donation protected
Hi all,
Due to unforeseen circumstances (and possibly a lack of escape routes), I’ve been chosen to take part in the 54-mile London to Brighton bike ride on Sunday 15th June.
Greg Thomas — who is, I must stress, much fitter than me — was originally riding with his super-fit son George. But sadly, George has had to pull out. And so, like a slightly rusty phoenix rising from the sofa, I will now be Greg’s wingman on this epic two-wheeled adventure.
Now, some of you might say, “Oh, 54 miles? That’s easy!” To those people I say: I haven’t trained. I haven’t ridden a bike in years. I have a partially rebuilt knee, a smashed ankle, and the fitness level of a potato. But I’m doing it anyway.
Why? Because we’re raising money for our dear friend Charlie Hounslow, who has recently undergone brain surgery for Glioblastoma, a terminal brain condition. Charlie is honestly one of the most inspirational, strong, and downright incredible people we know — a true Wonder Woman who continues to defy the odds with grace, grit, and humour.
Supporting her in this fight comes with huge challenges — emotional, physical, and financial. So we’re doing this ride to help raise money for the specialist equipment Charlie needs on her journey. If you’re able to donate, no matter how small, it will mean the world — and go directly towards helping Charlie in her fight.
Also, your donation may help motivate me not to fake a puncture at mile 12.
Sunday 15th June — wish us both luck, send snacks, and please… dig deep if you can.
Much love,
Martin and Greg
