Charlie Colclough Funeral Fund
It’s with a heavy heart that I must say Charlie Colclough also known as ‘mad Charlie’ unfortunately passed away on 17th June 2021. The Colclough family have asked me to create a Go Fund me page for his funeral and what an honour. I have known Charlie my whole life and worked with Charlie for 3 years after I left school, he taught me so much about life, hard work and caring about what you do. He coined phrases that have stayed with me forever like “it doesn’t matter what you do in life, If your going to be a road sweeper... be a good one, but above all... be a happy one”. He was without a doubt the hardest working, most practical man and most loving father and husband to Yvonne, Hannah & Drew.
Charlie was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in August 2020 and it appeared to be treatable. However in January 2021 further scans and tests were carried out which picked up an extremely rare form of Cancer called ‘Small Cell Neuro-endocrine Carcinoma’ of the prostate which had spread to his liver and lymph nodes, then his brain. This rare form of Cancer affects only 1% of men and cannot be picked up by the normal tests / screening processes for prostate Cancer. So I take this opportunity to ask all you men to go and have the finger up the bum check! Charlie said you might even enjoy it !
Even with Stage four Cancer, Charlie still managed to make a last batch of his famous ‘Mad Charlie’s Mad Pepper Sauce’, he had a trip or two to his local pub, saw all his loved ones and most importantly he Married Yvonne, his partner of 40 years.
Even when the Cancer had spread to his brain, Charlie was never without humour, he would still make his jokes, tell his tales and sing from the heart. You wouldn’t have known he had been told he only had weeks left to live with the way he faced this awful disease, all whilst having a smile on his face. He embraced the changes in his energy levels, his appearance and his abilities and took it all in his stride.
It’s incredibly sad to see such a man leave this world, but I know his impact is unmeasurable and his energy and memory will continue.
Many of you have said you would like to give so feel free to give instead of buying flowers, although Charlie loved nature and Mother Earth, he wouldn’t of wanted money being wasted on bunches of flowers that will die shortly after. If you do donate feel free to leave a comment with your donation to rally support for Yvonne, Hannah & Drew to support them through this tough time, as they have helped us through ours!
